Reporting Suspicious Activity

Recognizing and reporting suspicious activity is a great way to partner with the Police Department to reduce crime in neighborhoods or near businesses. The first step in this process is learning to recognize suspicious behavior.

In all cases, if it is an emergency call 911.

Be prepared to give:

  • Location of the emergency (a cell phone does not give police an address).
  • Name.
  • A callback number.
  • A description of people and/or vehicles and what they are doing.

If the situation is not an emergency, call our non-emergency number at 816.969.7390, option 7, and get connected to our Dispatch/Communications Unit.

Do not report in-progress activity via social media or email. These methods are NOT monitored 24 hours a day and could result in a delayed response to a situation.
