Road Closures

The following City* streets are closed or scheduled for closure due to road construction or repair**:

• Section of Southeast Fifth Street between Southeast Onyx Drive and Southeast Battery Drive - is set to close Fri., Jan. 16 at approximately 9 a.m. and will remain closed until the end of Feb. The closure is necessary for stormwater work. 

• Section of Southeast Browning Street between Southeast Eighth and South Blue Parkway - closed Mon., Jan. 19 and has been extended throught Fri., Feb. 6. The closure is necessary for water line work as part of the Route 291 North and US 50 Interchange project. 

• Section of Northeast Hagan Road between Northeast Strother Road and Northeast Jones Industrial Drive - is closed daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the week of Jan. 12, 2026. The closure is necessary for a contractor to pull cables in a new conduit.

• Section of Northeast Rice Road between Northeast Colbern and Northeast Mulberry - is set to close Mon., Jan. 12 through Thurs., Jan. 15. The closure is necessary to complete water line connections. 

• Section of Southeast Flagstone Drive between Southeast Todd George and Southeast Annette Street - is set to close daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Mon., Jan. 12 through Mon., Jan. 19. The closure is necessary to relocate a section of water main.

• Section of Northeast Rice Road between Northeast Colbern Road and Northeast Mulberry Avenue - will close Mon., Nov. 17, for approximately three weeks. The closure is necessary for water main rehabilitation work. 

• Southwest Nichols Street at Southwest Third Street - closed Mon., Sept. 8, until project completion. Southwest Fourth Street and Southwest Nichols Street will be local access only between the closure and Southwest Walnut Street. 

• Sections of Southwest Pryor Road between Southwest Longview and Southwest Scherer roads and between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads - closed June 30, 2025, and will remain closed until Spring 2026. The closures are necessary for roadway improvements.     

• Section of NW Quarry Park Road - The City will once again implement an inclement winter weather route for Northwest Quarry Park Road. Please note the inclement weather route for the 2025-2026 winter season.

*The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) manages closures on the state highway system such as I-470, US-50 Hwy, M-291 Hwy, and M-150 Hwy. For a list of state road or highway closures, visit the MoDOT Kansas City Roadwork.

**This page only lists long-term closures of more than 48 hours. Short-term closures are sometimes necessary for repairs, emergencies, work in the right-of-way, etc.
