Charter Form of Government

Lee's Summit began as the Town of Strother in 1865 and was incorporated in 1868 as the "Town of Lee's Summit." At that time it was designated a fourth class city and remained as such until April 1996 when voters adopted a Charter, changing the status to a Charter City.  In 2016, the voters adopted additional amendments and the Second Amended Charter is in place today.
