Certified / Lateral Entry Police Officer
To be eligible, applicants must hold a valid Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Class A Certification or be able to obtain one by transferring out-of-state law enforcement credentials. Pay is based on a lateral entry scale that rewards up to five years of law enforcement experience.

Recruit Police Officer
This application process is for applicants who do NOT currently hold a Missouri Peace Officer license. This group of applicants will attend a KCPD academy that is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2025.

Police Hiring and Recruiting Specialist
This is a full time, non-sworn position that works in our Hiring Unit. The position involves managing applicants as they enter the hiring process, maintaining contact with applicants, scheduling interviews and answering questions. The position also coordinates interview dates and assists the Hiring Unit Sergeant with conducting background investigations.
