Junior Police Academy

The Lee’s Summit Junior Police Academy is a week long program that is structured to simulate a professional Police Academy experience for youth between the ages of 12-14. The one week academy experience covers some of the following topics:

  • Patrol Tactics
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • Drug and Criminal Investigation
  • Traffic/Accident Investigation
  • Bomb Squad
  • K-9 Unit
  • Fingerprinting
  • Emergency Services Squad (SWAT)
  • Agility course
  • Situational Role Play

Students attending this academy may also have the opportunity to speak with other local and Federal law enforcement such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). Secret Service, Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), or Missouri Highway Patrol.

Program Details:

The 2019 Junior Police Academy will be held July 15-19, 2019 from 8am-noon. If you are interested in this program contact DARE Officer Amanda Geno at 816.969.4205 or via email Amanda Geno. This program is for Lee’s Summit residents & students of the LSR7. Deadline for the 2019 JPA Applications is June 17,  2019. This program fills up quickly, so turn your application in early. After the first 30 applications are turned in, the remaining will be put on a waiting list. Applications are available on-line or with the middle school SRO’s. They may be turned into SRO’s, mailed, faxed or dropped off at the Lee’s Summit Police Station.
