About Mayor Baird
Bill Baird was elected Lee's Summit's 42nd mayor on April 3, 2018. At age 15, Bill became an avid collector and raving fan of the movie It’s A Wonderful Life. One of the morals of the movie is that every decision we make impacts other people, often in ways we never know. Bill lives his life to impact people in positive ways – his family, friends, community, clients – and he does it with commitment, determination and integrity.
Bill learned to work hard at a young age. He was a four-sport letterman in high school and two-sport letterman in college where he obtained degrees in business and psychology from Baker University.
Mayor Baird has lead an impressive 20-year career working in the real estate industry. As the owner of Infinity Realty, he developed the organization into a real estate powerhouse with over 130 real estate agents. In 2011, he sold the company and has continued his real estate career as a commercial real estate broker at the Baird Realty Group. He is a member of many real estate organizations including the National Association of Realtors, Missouri Association of Realtors, Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors and the Realtors Political Action Committee. Baird was a member of the Heartland MLS Board from 2008 to 2013 and was elected board president in 2012.
As a 21-year resident of Lee's Summit, Baird has made significant contributions to the community through his volunteer and community service work. He served on the Lee's Summit R-7 Business Roundtable, Lee's Summit Educational Foundation Board and held an elected position on the Lee's Summit R-7 School Board from 2014 to 2017. He is active in a number of organizations including the Rotary, Independence Chamber of Commerce and Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce where he served on their board of directors.
Baird is most passionate about his family. He and his wife Hillory are the proud parents of Bailey and Grant. In his spare time, you can find him at a ball game cheering on his favorite team or enjoying a family vacation somewhere warm and tropical.
