Transit Services

The City contracts Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and OATS to provide commute and demand response transit services as follows:  

RideKC Lee's Summit Express: RideKC Route 550, Lee's Summit Express, provides commuter trips between downtown Kansas City, Mo., and Lee's Summit with a stop at Unity Village. Pick up and drop off in Lee's Summit is located at the park and ride lot near 50 Highway and Chipman Rd. This bus service is managed by the KCATA and generally operates between 5-7 a.m. and between 4-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is also a reverse commute from Lee's Summit to downtown Kansas City, Mo., departing Lee's Summit around 4:30 p.m. For more information on this route and other KCATA transit routes, visit RideKC.

RideKC Lee's Summit:  RideKC Lee's Summit provides demand response trips within Lee's Summit. This bus/van service is operated by OATS. OATS is a not-for-profit organization contracted by the City of Lee's Summit to provide door-to-door bus service to its citizens. This service is available to anyone regardless of age or ability. This service requires a 24-hour advance reservation (call OATS at 816.380.7433 to schedule a trip). The bus fare is currently $1.50 per trip. Effective March 1, 2024, the fare will increase to $3.00 per trip. Service is available between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday to and from any location in the city limits and Truman Medical Center Lakewood located just outside the city limits along Lee's Summit Rd. Other transit services offered in the City include:

AMTRAK:  Commuter rail service in Lee's Summit at the City's Train Depot (between Second and Third streets on SW Main St.) via the Missouri River Runner train. For detailed information on this service including routes, schedules and fees, visit AMTRAK.

PARK & RIDE:  Lee's Summit has one Park & Ride commuter lot, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), located at 50 Highway and Chipman Rd. For more information on this lot or to locate additional Park and Ride lots throughout the Kansas City metro area, visit RideKC.
