Report Illegal Dumping & Illicit Discharge

Image of illegal dumping on a residential street. It is a violation of City ordinance to dump, sweep, or discard any materials, litter, or trash into the City's right-of-way, storm drainage system, street, curb line, or public property. Such items include, but are not limited to:

  • yard waste, grass clippings
  • leaves, limbs, branches
  • trash
  • concrete, wet or dry
  • paint
  • oil
  • grease
  • fireworks
  • wastewater or wash water

Materials illegally dumped in the storm drainage system (also known as an Illicit Discharge) not only block the system, causing localized flooding, but also cause or contribute to water pollution.

To report illegal dumping or illicit discharges, contact the Public Works Department at 816.969.1800 or include the street name and nearest intersecting street in LSConnect.

To help clean up illegal dumping, trash, litter, or debris, refer to Volunteer Opportunities.
