Update: The contractor working on SE 2nd Street had an equipment failure earlier today, Tuesday, Nov. 1, and stopped work; however, work is tentatively expected to take place again from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. tomorrow, Wed., Nov. 2. Reminding everyone the open burning of yard waste is prohibited. Including burning leaves in portable patio fireplaces or pits.
Due to the ongoing drought conditions, all open burning permits issued in the City of Lee's Summit remain suspended, and it is not recommended to use any other outdoor open-flame appliances.

The City of Lee’s Summit and the Lee’s Summit Fire Department will host groundbreaking ceremonies on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. for the new Fire Station No. 4, and Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. for the new Fire Station No. 5. The ceremonies are open to the public and will be held at the new Fire Station No. 4 location, 5031 NE Lakewood Way, and the new Fire Station No. 5 located at 801 SW Lemans Lane.

Update: Phase two of the SW 3rd Street utility work is now expected to start on Mon., Oct. 17, with the closure of both eastbound and westbound through traffic on SW 3rd Street from SW Blue Parkway to SW Jefferson Street.
