Fire Damages Greenwood Home

The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning in the 400 block of 10th Avenue Circle North in Greenwood, Missouri. A neighbor reported the blaze around 1:15 a.m., indicating that the house was heavily involved in flames. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story, split-level home. Fortunately, the occupants had been alerted by smoke alarms and were safely outside when emergency crews arrived. Initially, firefighters employed a defensive strategy to combat the fire in the garage and the front of the residence. They later transitioned to an interior attack to complete the extinguishment. 2025 Fireworks Regulations for the City of Lee’s Summit

As you prepare for Fourth of July celebrations, prioritizing safety is essential. If you plan to use fireworks, do so responsibly and adhere to local regulations and safety guidelines. It's important to note that all firework-related incidents are preventable. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 14,700 people were injured by fireworks last year, marking a 52% increase from the previous year. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s safe; the misuse of even small fireworks can lead to severe injuries and fires. In the City of Lee's Summit, residents with a 2025 fireworks permit may discharge approved fireworks on July 3 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on July 4 from 10 a.m. to midnight. Sections of Southwest Pryor Road Set to Close Monday, June 30

Sections of Southwest Pryor Road between Southwest Longview and Southwest Scherer roads and between Southwest Scherer and Southwest Hook roads are set to close on Monday, June 30, 2025, and will remain closed until Spring 2026. The detour route includes Southwest Longview Road, Southwest Ward Road, and Southwest Hook Road. The closures are necessary for roadway improvements.

Section of Southwest Oldham Parkway Closing Monday, June 16

1/21/26: Southwest Oldham Parkway is now open.
A section of Southwest Oldham Parkway between Southwest Allendale Boulevard and the Southwest Oldham Parkway exit from Route 291 is closing today, Monday, June 16, and is expected to remain closed until December 2025. The signed detour route includes Highway 50 and Southwest Third Street.

The closure is necessary for work associated with the Oldham Village development.

Alley Closure at Northwest First Street Set for Tuesday, June 10

The alley from Northwest First Street to Southwest Second Street between Northwest Lakeview Boulevard and Southwest Monroe Street is set to close to through traffic beginning Tuesday, June 10. The closure will last for approximately one week and is necessary for concrete replacement at the north end of the alley at Northwest First Street.
