On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 3:39 p.m., the Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 1200 block of SW Surrey Trace after a neighbor reported seeing black smoke coming from the eaves of a house. A section of Northeast Rice Road between Northeast Colbern Road and Northeast Mulberry Street is set to close daily beginning Tuesday, April 29, and will last through the end of the week.
