The following information is shared from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and is related to the 291 North and US Route 50 Interchange project. 

Projects: Missouri Route 291 North and U.S. Route 50 Interchange Improvements in Jackson

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will conduct various closures and traffic modifications on Missouri Route 291 and U.S. MO 50 for bridge replacement operations. All work is weather permitting. 

• The City has adopted the 2024 I-Codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code. The codes will become effective October 1, 2026.   

• Projects submitted prior to October 1 will be reviewed and permitted under currently enforced 2018 I-Codes and the 2017 National Electrical Code. 

• Projects submitted on or after October 1 will be reviewed and permitted under the 2024 I-Codes and 2023 National Electrical Code. 

The intersection of NW Ward and NW O’Brien roads is set to close on Monday, Aug. 24 (rescheduled from Aug. 17), for approximately two months. NW Ward Road will be closed to through traffic between NW Blue Parkway and NW Chipman Road. NW O’Brien Road will be closed to through traffic between Executive Way and NW Donovan Road.

• City Council has established a public application and selection process to fill the vacant District 3 City Council seat.
• The application period shall open on August 6, 2026, at 8 a.m. and close on August 21, 2026, at 5 p.m.
• Residents are invited to submit questions for consideration during the Public Candidate Forum.
