Section of SE Browning Street Set to Close May 8

Update 5/24/23: This section of SE Browning Street is now open to traffic. Update 5/2/23: Work is progressing faster than anticipated and the contractor now intends to start the closure on Mon., May 8. The closure was originally posted to begin Tues., May 9. A section of SE Browning Street just south of SE Oldham Parkway is set to close on Mon., May 8, and will remain closed for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. The work is necessary for roadway improvements and storm pipe replacement as part of the Browning Street Extension Project. The detour route is SE Hamblen Road and SE Browning Street. 2023 Free Fireworks Show - Legacy Blast - July 3, 2023

   Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation, along with the City of Lee's Summit, announce the annual Independence Day-themed fireworks event, Legacy Blast, on Monday, July 3, at Legacy Park.  Choreographed music will accompany the fireworks display, which will be simulcast on 94.9 KCMO. There will be concessions, food trucks, and DJs at the baseball, soccer, softball, and football venues. Children under the age of 12 can enjoy balloon artists, inflatables, and glitter tattoo artists.  Joe Snook, Administrator for Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation, shared, “We hope you can join us as we celebrate the birth of our great nation. City of Lee’s Summit to Host Sweep the Summit on April 22

In conjunction with Earth Day, the City of Lee’s Summit is launching Sweep the Summit on Saturday, April 22, a biannual event to address ongoing litter issues, encourage recycling and help keep our city beautiful. Residents, businesses, community groups and students are encouraged to take part in one or all of the four environmental activities planned throughout the City. The events include Street Clean, Stream Team, RecycleFEST and Drug Take-Back Day. Street Clean is a coordinated volunteer effort to tackle litter and debris on specific segments of city-owned streets. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will gather at 10 a.m. at the City’s Maintenance Facility, 1971 SE Hamblen Road, to receive street assignments, trash bags and safety vests. Public Invited to Comment on Douglas Street Improvements

The City of Lee’s Summit is hosting a public meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wed., April 19, in the Strother Conference Room on the first floor of City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee's Summit, Mo. 64063, to discuss infrastructure improvements for the Douglas Street corridor from Chipman Road to 2nd Street. The meeting will allow the public to view conceptual plans and exhibits and provide feedback.
