City of Lee's Summit Department of Communications

The Communications Department leads the City’s public information, media relations, brand management, digital storytelling, and strategic communication efforts. The department works across the organization to ensure residents, businesses, media and stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and accessible information about City services, decisions, projects, and priorities.

What We Do

Public Information & City Updates

We provide official City updates, plain-language explainers, and links to source materials so residents can understand City business and follow important issues.

Media Relations

We coordinate media inquiries and support accurate, timely responses on City issues, services, and high-profile matters. We also identify and pitch meaningful stories that highlight City priorities, public service, community impact, and the people behind local government.

Strategic Communications

We help departments plan communication strategies for major initiatives, service changes, public meetings, community engagement, and emerging issues.

Brand & Creative Services

We manage the City’s visual identity and produce branded materials, campaigns, video, photography, graphics, digital content, and printed assets.

Digital Channels

We manage and support City communication channels, including the website, social media, newsletters, podcasts, LSTV, and public notification tools.

Partnerships & Community Promotion

We support communication and promotional efforts for City-affiliated partnerships and community initiatives that strengthen community identity, support economic vitality, and connect residents and visitors.
