The City of Lee's Summit will celebrate the completion of the Chipman Road Improvements project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. The event will be held on the east side of the pedestrian bridge on Chipman Road. The Chipman Road Improvements project, which began construction in July 2023, enhances the corridor that serves as a key transportation route for residents and businesses. The completed upgrades include the connection of Northwest Ashurst Drive to View High Drive, realignments of both Northwest Cedar Creek Lane and Northwest Edgewood Drive, and the replacement of a one-lane railroad tunnel with a new pedestrian bridge over Chipman Road that supports two-way traffic. Repairs to the roundabout at Southwest Arborwalk Boulevard and Southwest Arboridge Drive are set to begin the week of July 28. A section of Southwest Arborwalk Boulevard between Southwest Arbormist Drive and Southwest Arboridge Drive will be closed, and sections of both Southwest Arborwalk Boulevard and Southwest Arboridge Drive will be closed to thru traffic. VanBuskirk will be honored this September at the Truman Heartland Community Foundation’s Toast to Our Towns Gala for his more than three decades of service to the civic, educational and economic vitality of Lee’s Summit.

To help celebrate Parks and Recreation month, LSPR wants you to LEGO To The Park! Join us on Saturday, July 26, for a FREE, family-friendly morning of creativity and community to celebrate Parks and Recreation month! Children ages 4 to 12 years old are invited to bring their LEGOs (Non-Duplo) and participate in collaborative building activities in the great outdoors. Compete for prizes! The first 50 children receive a swag bag from LSPR.

We will have donuts, juice, playground time, and an interactive Agents of Discovery mission—all designed to foster imagination, connection, and fun.

We've got two exciting builds lined up! One is to construct the tallest tower, and the other will be an object you can find in our parks – we'll announce what that is in the morning! Don't forget to bring your Legos!

A section of Northeast Hagan Road between Northeast Strother Road and Northeast Jones Industrial Drive is set to close Monday, July 14, for utility work. Evergy is placing power across Hagan, and work is permitted until August 22. The detour route includes Northeast Strother Road, Northeast Independence Avenue, and Northeast Jones Industrial Drive. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.
