The City of Lee’s Summit is excited to join communities statewide in celebrating Missouri Good Neighbor Week, Sept. 28-Oct. 4. The annual event honors the spirit of community and encourages residents to strengthen relationships with neighbors. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter established Sept. 28 as National Good Neighbor Day by presidential proclamation. In 2022, Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed legislation establishing Sept. 28 as Missouri Good Neighbor Day and the six subsequent days as Missouri Good Neighbor Week. During Good Neighbor Week, citizens can get involved through various events and activities to foster community and goodwill. A section of Southeast Cobey Creek Drive between Southeast Gillette Street and Southeast David Road is set to close on Wednesday, Oct. 1, and will remain closed for approximately a week and a half. The closure is necessary for stormwater work. The detour route includes Southeast Gillette Street, Southeast Corbin Drive, and Southeast David Road. Work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. 

The City of Lee’s Summit invites residents to a District 1 Town Hall with Councilmembers Mia Prier and Hillary Shields on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Raintree Lake Clubhouse, 825 SW Raintree Drive.

A section of Southeast Douglas Street between Southeast Ninth Street and Southeast Blue Parkway closed on Monday, October 6, and will remain closed until Oct. 31 (extended from Oct. 17). A section of Southeast Ninth Street is also closed, and there is no access to Southeast Ninth Street from Southeast Douglas Street. READ MORE -->
