The City of Lee’s Summit is holding a snow dry run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 5, to allow crews to prepare for the upcoming 2025-2026 winter weather season. The City of Lee’s Summit will host its annual RecycleFEST from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 1, at the City’s Maintenance Facility, 1971 SE Hamblen Road. This free event gives residents the opportunity to recycle or responsibly dispose of a wide range of everyday items that often end up in landfills. Sections of Southeast Douglas and Southeast First streets are set to close daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, October 27, for utility work at the intersection. Work is permitted through November 7. The hard closures are on the south side of the intersection in the southbound lane of Southeast Douglas Street, and in the eastbound lane of Southeast First Street on either side of its intersection with Southeast Douglas Street.
