Eastbound Lanes of Southwest Third Street to Remain Closed Through November

Eastbound Lanes of Southwest Third Street to Remain Closed Through November

The eastbound lanes of Southwest Third Street from Southwest Pryor Road to Southwest Murray Road are now expected to remain closed through November 2020, while one westbound lane of Southwest Third Street will remain open. Southwest Third Street will then reopen to two-way traffic as the contractor works on the remaining lanes. This work is necessary as part of the Third Street Improvements project.

Private utility relocation issues have had a significant impact on the contractor’s schedule. The new completion date for the project is late spring 2021. Depending on the weather and the project’s progress, the contractor may have to stop work over the winter months. Should a winter shutdown occur, the contractor is expected to do the following: restore two-way traffic on Southwest Third Street; positive drainage to ensure no standing water; no obstacles, such as street plates or raised manhole lids, for snowplows; north/south access across Southwest Third Street for Southwest Murray Road traffic; and access maintained for all property owners.

Construction is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change. A project update will be provided as winter approaches.
