City Crews Preparing for Snow Dec. 26-27

The City has a small crew scheduled to report at 2 a.m. Wed., Dec. 27, to monitor conditions and treat streets with salt as needed due to the potential for snow. Temperatures overnight will hover around freezing which may cause slick conditions. Drivers should use caution during the Wednesday morning commute, especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. Snow is also expected today, Tues., Dec. 26, and may be heavy at times; however, pavement temperatures above freezing should limit accumulations. The City will continue to monitor the weather forecast and will update its response as needed.

Joint Public Meeting for Douglas Street Improvements and Olive & Orchard Street and Stormwater Improvements Set for Jan. 18

The City of Lee’s Summit will host an in-person public meeting to discuss the design of both the Douglas Street Improvements project and the Olive & Orchard Street and Stormwater Improvements from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, in the Council Chambers at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. The meeting will be an open house-style format and there will not be a formal presentation; the public can come and go as schedules allow. Project plans and exhibits prepared by the City’s design consultant Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., will be available to view, and attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the projects and offer comments. Intersection of SE Wilson & SE Eastridge Closed

Update: This intersection is expected to remain closed through the end of February, weather permitting.

The intersection of SE Wilson and SE Eastridge streets is closed until approximately Jan. 18, 2024, so a contractor can replace stormwater infrastructure as part of the Downtown Market Plaza project. The detour route for SE Eastridge Street is SE 2nd Street, SE Johnson Street and SE 1st Street. The detour route for SE Wilson Street is SE Grand Avenue, SE 2nd Street, and SE Johnson Street. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.

City Crews Completed Snow Operations Today, Sun., Nov. 26

The City’s crews completed snow operations mid-morning today, Sunday, Nov. 26. Crews worked overnight into mid-morning treating primary and secondary streets with salt. Melting due to warming pavement temperatures and sun will continue throughout the day. Drivers should watch for areas of refreezing overnight and especially during the Monday morning commute.
