City Crews Preparing for Snow Mon., Nov. 14, and Overnight Into Tues., Nov. 15

The City’s crews are preparing equipment and pre-treating hot spot areas such as major intersections and bridges with rock salt today, Mon. Nov. 14, in anticipation of snow later tonight and overnight into Tues., Nov. 15. Crews are currently on standby and will be called in as necessary overnight based on the forecast and conditions.

Precipitation is expected to start as light rain changing over to snow. Pavement temperatures will hover around freezing, and most of the snow will melt on pavement as it falls; however, brief periods of moderate to heavy snow may overwhelm pavements with slushy accumulations. READ MORE -->

City Crews Preparing for Winter Weather Season

The City of Lee’s Summit will hold a snow dry run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today, Wed., Nov. 9, to allow crews to prepare for the upcoming 2022-2023 winter weather season.

City crews will be testing equipment and software, and driving snow routes with plows and salt spreaders installed on trucks. The purpose of the dry run is to ensure all equipment and software is working properly and that drivers are familiar with snow routes, which is critical to the City’s snow and ice control operations. Section of SW Murray Road Set to Close Nov. 14

A section of SW Murray Road near SW 1st Street is set to close on Monday, Nov. 14, and will remain closed until the evening of Friday, Nov. 18, weather permitting. The road closure is necessary to perform water main replacement work as part of the FY22 Water Main Rehabilitation project. The detour route is SW 3rd Street and Oldham Parkway. 

The FY22 Water Main Rehabilitation project helps with continued efforts to maintain and strengthen the water distribution system. For more information about the work or the project, contact the City’s Public Works Department at publicworks@cityofls.net or 816-969-1800.

Curb Replacement on Section of NW Chipman Road

Preparations began this week for curb replacement on a section of NW Chipman Road from U.S. Route 50 to the railroad bridge just east of NW Donovan Road. Curb removal is expected to start on Mon., Nov. 7, with pours and restoration to follow as well as sidewalk ramp replacement in several locations. The work is expected to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting. While there will be lane closures during this work, both eastbound and westbound NW Chipman Road will be open to through traffic; however, some delays can be expected.
