Public Invited to Comment on Third Street Improvements

Public Invited to Comment on Third Street Improvements

The City of Lee’s Summit is hosting a public meeting on April 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss infrastructure improvements for the Third Street corridor from Blue Parkway to Jefferson Street. The meeting will allow the public to view conceptual plans and exhibits and provide feedback.

The project is designed to enhance safety and improve connectivity, resulting in an inviting gateway corridor into downtown Lee’s Summit. Third Street would remain a three-lane roadway with improved pavement, curb, storm drainage and waterline infrastructure as well as modified access management, such as driveway adjustments and consolidations. The project would also add a sidewalk on the north side of Third Street, multi-use path on the south side of Third Street, pedestrian crossings, street lighting and would relocate utilities.

In addition to the April 29 public meeting, the plans and exhibits will be available online and public comments may be submitted beginning April 30 at cityofLS.net/third-street. Online public comments will be accepted through June 1.

Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2023. Voters approved this project in 2017 with the passage of the capital improvement sales tax continuation. The ½-cent capital improvement sales tax funds road, transportation-related and stormwater projects.

For questions about the project, email Jackie White at Jackie.White@cityofLS.net or call 969-1800.
