City of Lee's Summit Announces New Director of Creative Services

City of Lee's Summit Announces New Director of Creative Services

The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce Megan Dillard’s appointment as director of Creative Services, effective March 16.

Dillard brings extensive experience in strategic communications, brand development and public engagement across municipal and private and public-sector organizations. Most recently, she served in a senior communications leadership role overseeing integrated marketing strategies, multimedia production and cross-departmental communications initiatives. Throughout her career, she has led teams responsible for advancing organizational storytelling, strengthening community connections and delivering clear, accessible public information.

Among her notable achievements, Dillard directed communications for the largest four-day school week implementation in the state of Missouri, managing political and media strategy across local, state and national outlets. She developed parent and community engagement frameworks, adopted districtwide to improve transparency and feedback loops and created content systems and campaign templates now used across multiple departments to streamline messaging.

Prior to her work in strategic communications, Dillard spent nearly a decade as an award-winning television journalist and news anchor for FOX and NBC affiliates in multiple markets from 2009 to 2018. She produced, wrote and anchored hundreds of live newscasts, led breaking news and investigative coverage and oversaw the work of producers, reporters, videographers and editors. Her experience includes executive interviewing, real-time crisis communication and cultivating trusted relationships with community leaders, law enforcement officials and elected leaders.

In her new role, Dillard will provide strategic leadership for the City’s Creative Services Department, overseeing communications, marketing, digital media and public information efforts. She will guide brand strategy, support City departments with comprehensive communications planning and ensure residents receive timely and transparent information about programs, services and initiatives.

“Megan is an accomplished communications professional with a strong background in strategic messaging and team leadership,” said Assistant City Manager Donna Lake. “Her experience and collaborative approach will further strengthen how we connect with our community and share the City’s story.”

A Houston native, Dillard is an avid runner currently training for her first marathon. She values her role as a mother to her four daughters and looks forward to being part of the Lee’s Summit community with her family.
