Police Recruit

To be considered for a recruit officer position an individual must be at least 21 years of age. Applicants must be 21 years old at graduation, so an applicant can enter the academy at 20 years and six months as long they turn 21 before completing the six-month-long police academy. Applicants chosen for a recruit position will attend the Kansas City Missouri Police Academy as a sponsored recruit for the Lee's Summit Police Department. The department pays the recruit a full salary and benefits and all tuition costs for the academy.

Applications will be accepted continuously for recruit officer candidates.

Once a recruit officer completes their Field Training Program and gains three years of field experience, the department offers a wide range of specialized units and assignments to allow officers to grow their skill sets.
