On Thursday, Jan. 19, the City of Lee’s Summit City Council unanimously passed a resolution expressing opposition to the location of a landfill outside the corporate City limits and near the border of the City. The resolution is in response to the potential development of a landfill within the city limits of Kansas City, located between 155th Street and 150 Highway, and Horridge Road on the west to Peterson Road on the east.

The City’s crews are preparing for a chance of snow which is expected to arrive in the early morning hours on Thurs., Jan. 19. A small crew will report at 3 a.m. on Thursday to treat streets with salt as needed. Air and pavement temperatures are expected to bottom out around freezing and slick streets are possible. Drivers should use caution during the Thursday morning commute, especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

Chief Travis Forbes is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Scott Liles to the rank of Captain. Captain Liles has been with the LSPD since 1995 and served in a variety of roles within the department.
