The alley between SE 2^nd and SE 3^rd streets will close weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for installation of a gas main by a utility contractor. The closure is permitted from July 30 through August 28.

The intersection of Hook and Pryor roads is set to close for ninety days beginning Monday, Aug. 10. The detour route for Hook Road includes Horridge Road, M-150 Highway, and Ward Road. The detour route for Pryor Road includes M-150 Highway, Ward Road and Longview Road.

Update: This closure has been extended until Wednesday, Aug. 5.
NW Ward Lane is closed between NW Village Drive and NW Ward Road for concrete repair over a stormwater line. The hard closure is just east of NW Village Drive.

The section of Pryor Road between Eagle View Drive and Scherer Road is now open. There is one lane of traffic open in each direction and lanes will be delineated with channelizers while construction continues. The Eagle View Drive intersection will be controlled by stop signs.  

A deck fire spread quickly to a house Tuesday evening. The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to the 2500 block of NW Bent Tree Circle at 5:21 p.m. after the resident reported a grill fire on the deck. The occupants were evacuating the home. Crews arrived to find the deck and the back of the two-story home on fire, with flames spreading into the attic through the eaves. All occupants and pets were safely outside. Firefighters knocked down the flames on the deck as crews checked for extension into the house and attic. A search confirmed all occupants were out. The fire was contained mainly to the outside of the home, with some spread into the attic and several concealed spaces. Crews had to open areas inside the living space to reach the fire in the attic and concealed spaces between levels of the house. The fire was under control by 5:55 p.m. Fire damage was confined...
