The Statewide Tornado Drill is Wednesday, March 6, at 11:00 am, weather permitting. The City of Lee's Summit will activate the outdoor warning systems, school receivers, and LS Aware for the drill. A section of SE Johnson Street at SE Cooper Street is set to close on March 7 for approximately a week and a half. This is for work related to the Downtown Market Plaza. Work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
This closure is south of the SE Second Street closure that begins March 4.

City Crews Scheduled to Treat Streets as Needed Feb. 27-28
The City's crews are scheduled to treat streets with salt as needed late Tuesday, Feb. 27, and overnight into early Wednesday, Feb. 28, as sleet and snow is forecast for the area. Streets are expected to get slick as temperatures and pavements fall below freezing, and drivers should use caution overnight and into the Wednesday morning commute. Pavement temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by mid-day Wednesday.

In February 2024, Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) received $2,881.94 in funding to purchase three accessible ice sleds for Summit Ice located at Lea McKeighan Park North.
