The City of Lee’s Summit and Mayor Bill Baird are proud to name Michael VanBuskirk as the 2025 Citizen of the Year. VanBuskirk will be honored this September at the Truman Heartland Community Foundation’s Toast to Our Towns Gala for his more than three decades of service to the civic, educational and economic vitality of Lee’s Summit.

To help celebrate Parks and Recreation month, LSPR wants you to LEGO To The Park! Join us on Saturday, July 26, for a FREE, family-friendly morning of creativity and community to celebrate Parks and Recreation month! Children ages 4 to 12 years old are invited to bring their LEGOs (Non-Duplo) and participate in collaborative building activities in the great outdoors. Compete for prizes! Section of Northeast Hagan Road Set to Close Monday, July 14
A section of Northeast Hagan Road between Northeast Strother Road and Northeast Jones Industrial Drive is set to close Monday, July 14, for utility work. Evergy is placing power across Hagan, and work is permitted until August 22. The detour route includes Northeast Strother Road, Northeast Independence Avenue, and Northeast Jones Industrial Drive. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (July 10, 2025) — The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at the Quality Inn, located at 1020 SE Blue Parkway, at 1:01 p.m. An employee reported smoke in room 324, coming from a windowsill, prompting an evacuation of the hotel.
