City Crews Prepared for Snow this Weekend Feb. 6-7

The City’s crews pre-treated residential streets with salt today, Friday, Feb. 5, in anticipation of snow this weekend. Crews are scheduled to begin working at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, and will work mainly on primary and secondary streets as snow falls. Crews will work around the clock to plow and treat streets as needed throughout the weekend.

The Kansas City area could see one to three inches of snow on Saturday, with another chance of snow on Sunday, Feb. 7. Due to cold temperatures, this snow storm will produce conditions which are different from what we have seen recently. The dry snow is expected to stick, and streets may be packed with snow even after being plowed and treated. Cold temperatures also decrease the effectiveness of de-icing materials.

The City will continue to monitor the weather forecast and will update its response accordingly.
