The City of Lee’s Summit and its project partners celebrated the official opening of a new $16 million interchange at U.S. 50 and Route 291 South with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Friday, May 11. The project reconstructed the 40-year-old Route 291 overpass into a diverging diamond design, added a roundabout at Blue Parkway and Jefferson Street, and realigned Oldham Parkway.

City crews are out plowing and treating streets, Sunday, April 1, and will continue overnight into Monday, April 2, as necessary. The City will continue to monitor the weather forecast and update its response accordingly. Streets are slick and residents should use caution while driving, particularly on elevated services such as bridges and overpasses. Public Works crews have been continually treating roads since 3 a.m., Tues. morning, Feb. 20 and recently finished the treatment of residential streets as of Wed., Feb. 21 from the first round of wintry ice storms.  Roads may still be icy due to the freezing air and pavement temperatures, which reduce the effectiveness of the salt treatments. Now that the freezing rain has ended, crews are treating primary and secondary roads.  Crews will be treating residential roads throughout the night into the morning hours once primary and secondary are complete.  

With temperatures continuing to fall, the effectiveness of salt will be limited and refreezing may occur, so watch out for icy road conditions.  Please give our drivers room.

An open house style public meeting for the 3rd Street Improvements project from Murray to Pryor roads is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, in the Howard Conference room on the second floor of City Hall, 220 SE Green St, Lee’s Summit, Mo.
