City Crews Treating Elevated Surfaces with Brine Today, Tuesday, Dec. 8

The City’s crews are treating elevated surfaces with brine this morning Tuesday, Dec. 8. The fog plus low temperatures may create slick conditions on elevated surfaces such as bridges.

Brine is a saltwater solution which helps to prevent ice and other precipitation from bonding to pavement. Roadways and other surfaces treated with brine often have a striped appearance.

Crews will continue to plow and treat roadways throughout the night and into the morning, Monday, Nov. 26. Heavy snow has covered the roadways and high winds are making it difficult to keep streets clear. This will remain an issue throughout the evening.
