Police Officer Positions

Certified / Lateral Entry Police Officer

To be eligible, applicants must hold a valid Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Class A Certification or be able to obtain one by transferring out-of-state law enforcement credentials. Pay is based on a lateral entry scale that rewards up to five years of law enforcement experience.

Recruit Officer Position

We are currently processing a group of applicants for the June 2024 KCPD Police Academy class.  Once those applicants are processed, the job process for recruit officer will open back up late May / early June of 2024 for applications.

 

Civilian Positions

Detention Officer

Animal Control Officer

Animal Control Officers work in the community and at the animal shelter; they are responsible for enforcing animal laws.  Animal Control Officers work nine hour shifts, either 8am to 5pm or 2pm to 11pm; both shifts require work days on weekends and holidays.
