Save the Date: 2027 Citizens Leadership Academy

Want to learn more about how the City of Lee’s Summit works, meet the people behind City services, and get a firsthand look at local government in action? Save the tentative dates for the 2027 Citizens Leadership Academy.

The Citizens Leadership Academy is an interactive program that gives Lee’s Summit residents and business owners an inside look at City government through presentations, conversations with City leaders and elected officials, and tours of City facilities. Participants learn about the services and operations that help keep Lee’s Summit running, including Public Safety, Financial Management and Budgeting, Public Works, Water Services, Airport Services, Explore LS (visitors’ bureau), Parks and Recreation, Community Development, and Strategic Communication.

 

 

 

Tentative 2027 Class Dates

  • March 20
  • April 3
  • April 17
  • May 1

Sessions will be held at various City facilities throughout Lee’s Summit. The Citizens Leadership Academy is free and open to Lee’s Summit residents and business owners. Space is limited.

The 21st Annual Tom Logan Memorial bike ride, Tour de Lakes, will take place on Saturday, Jun. 24, 2023. With great sadness, we announce the passing of Engineer Brad Faulkner. Brad collapsed at his son’s sporting event on Thursday, and efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Brad was a 19-year veteran assigned to A-Shift at Fire Station No. 3. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brad’s family, friends, and his fire department family.
