Save the Date: 2027 Citizens Leadership Academy

Want to learn more about how the City of Lee’s Summit works, meet the people behind City services, and get a firsthand look at local government in action? Save the tentative dates for the 2027 Citizens Leadership Academy.

The Citizens Leadership Academy is an interactive program that gives Lee’s Summit residents and business owners an inside look at City government through presentations, conversations with City leaders and elected officials, and tours of City facilities. Participants learn about the services and operations that help keep Lee’s Summit running, including Public Safety, Financial Management and Budgeting, Public Works, Water Services, Airport Services, Explore LS (visitors’ bureau), Parks and Recreation, Community Development, and Strategic Communication.

  • April 17
  • May 1

Sessions will be held at various City facilities throughout Lee’s Summit. The Citizens Leadership Academy is free and open to Lee’s Summit residents and business owners. Space is limited.

On Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 8:57 a.m., Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to Summit Waves, 120 SW Blue Parkway, for a reported chemical spill.
