The City of Lee’s Summit will accept applications from qualified agencies for 2026–27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from Jan. 6 – Feb. 6, 2026. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awards federal grant funds to the City annually. These funds must be used to meet the needs of low- to moderate-income individuals and families, address slum or blight in Lee's Summit, or meet an urgent need. Lee’s Summit is designated as an Entitlement Community under the CDBG program, giving the City authority to administer the grant funds locally. The City received $385,005 for the 2025–26 grant year. Funding for the 2026–27 program year, which runs July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027, has not yet been announced. Public agencies and nonprofit organizations may apply for the grant to support eligible programs and projects....

 

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is undertaking a major restoration effort at Legacy Lake to protect one of the community’s most important environmental and recreational assets. The Legacy Lake Dredging Project began in November 2025 and is scheduled for completion in May 2026.
