Lee’s Summit Citizens Leadership Academy Accepting Applications for 2025

The City of Lee’s Summit is accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens Leadership Academy through Dec. 13. The seven-week program offers residents and business owners a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of municipal government and engage with elected officials and City employees. Participants will gain a firsthand look at what it takes to build and maintain one of the fastest growing communities in the Midwest through presentations and tours hosted by department directors and elected officials. The curriculum will explore Lee's Summit's rich history and provide an in-depth look at public safety, financial management and budgeting, public works, water services, park management and the development life cycle. Lee’s Summit Public Works is excited to announce it has received reaccreditation from the American Public Works Association (APWA). This achievement recognizes the department’s commitment to excellence in public works management and operations. APWA accreditation is a rigorous process that evaluates public works agencies against industry best practices. By earning this accreditation, City of Lee’s Summit Public Works demonstrates its dedication to providing high-quality services to the community. This is the department’s sixth accreditation since 2004, solidifying its position as a leader in public works management. Open to all governmental agencies with responsibilities for public works functions, initial accreditation from APWA is for a four-year period. Lee’s Summit Joint Operations Facility Groundbreaking

The City of Lee's Summit will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. to mark the start of a $30.5 million project to construct the Joint Operations Facility. The ceremony is open to the public and will take place on land west of Lee’s Summit Police Headquarters at 2 NE Tudor Road. Joint Operations Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

The public is invited to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Joint Operations Facility!

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Location: 2 NE Tudor Road (behind Police Headquarters)

This facility is made possible through the 2023 No Tax Increase Bond in partnership with the state of Missouri. It will serve as the future home of Fire Administration and Training, as well as the City's Emergency Operations and Communications Centers.
