Lee’s Summit 2025 State of the City on August 15

Lee’s Summit Mayor Bill Baird will deliver his State of the City address on Aug. 15 at 4:30 p.m., hosted by the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce at the newly completed Green Street Market, 209 SE Green St. The address will take place immediately before the Green Street ribbon cutting, making it the first official public event at the City’s newest destination. This will also mark Mayor Baird’s last State of the City as he completes his final term in office.

The City of Lee’s Summit is inviting the public to experience the excitement of Green Street, the City’s newest outdoor destination in the heart of Downtown Lee’s Summit, during its Grand Opening Weekend, Aug. 15-17. This bold, vibrant gathering space includes a flexible indoor event venue that will be home to the popular Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers Market, a covered outdoor performance area, public art, gathering spaces and an immersive playground.

Lee’s Summit to Celebrate the Chipman Road Improvements Project Completion

The City of Lee's Summit will celebrate the completion of the Chipman Road Improvements project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. The event will be held on the east side of the pedestrian bridge on Chipman Road. The Chipman Road Improvements project, which began construction in July 2023, enhances the corridor that serves as a key transportation route for residents and businesses. The completed upgrades include the connection of Northwest Ashurst Drive to View High Drive, realignments of both Northwest Cedar Creek Lane and Northwest Edgewood Drive, and the replacement of a one-lane railroad tunnel with a new pedestrian bridge over Chipman Road that supports two-way traffic. Michael VanBuskirk Named Citizen of the Year
