Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) is excited to share with our community that former LSPR Administrator, Tom Lovell, will be inducted into the Missouri Recreation and Parks (MRP) Hall of Fame in February.

The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce the selection of Donna Lake as assistant city manager. Lake begins her position on Feb. 6 where she will support and direct various aspects of the City’s operations and lead the implementation of a number of strategic plan initiatives for the community. “We are excited to welcome Donna to the City. The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Johnson as director of development services effective Jan. 7. For the past five years, Johnson has served as the assistant director of plan services, where he supervises a team of planners, engineers, project managers and code professionals evaluating projects at all stages of development. On Monday, December 19, 2022, at 11:44 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire at the John Knox Village Maintenance Building, 626 NW Pryor Road. John Knox Village Public Safety received an automatic fire alarm for the building. When public safety officers arrived, there was smoke in the building, and they notified the fire department. Officers located a fire on a mezzanine in the shop area, attempted to extinguish it without success, and left the building. When the fire department arrived, light smoke was visible from a warehouse-type maintenance building. Firefighters entered the smoke- filled building and extinguished a fire involving a hot water boiler and the wood mezzanine. Crews shut off natural gas and removed the smoke from the building. A search of the building confirmed it was unoccupied. The fire was under control...

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) is pleased to announce that Summit Ice officially opened for the 5^th winter season on November 18th! Summit Ice offers public skating, pond hockey, and learn-to-skate classes. Once again, there will be warm fire pits and stand-alone heaters.

“We are excited to offer this incredible amenity to our community,” Joe Snook, LSPR Administrator, said. “Each year, participation increases, providing an outdoor winter experience and creating memories for thousands each season.”
