LSPD Homicide Investigation

On Friday, November 22 at approximately 8 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance call in the 2100 block of SW Rutherford Drive. The 911 caller indicated that an adult male had been shot inside of the residence; they also indicated that the suspect was a person known to them. As officers entered the home, they located the male victim who was deceased.  The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and surrendered himself to Police a few hours later. Detectives are working to also establish the timeline of events that led up to the shooting.

On Saturday, 11/23/2024 at approximately 3:00 p.m. an update in the case was announced.

The victim in the investigation has been identified as 51-year-old Craig L. Scott of Lee’s Summit.

The suspect in the investigation has been identified as 31-year-old Keith J. Marshall of Kansas City, MO. The defendant was charged today by Jackson County Prosecutors with 2nd Degree Murder, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, 1st Degree Burglary and unlawful use of a weapon; bond was set at $250,000 cash.
