The City of Lee’s Summit is excited to join communities statewide in celebrating Missouri Good Neighbor Week, Sept. 28-Oct. 4. The annual event honors the spirit of community and encourages residents to strengthen relationships with neighbors. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter established Sept. 28 as National Good Neighbor Day by presidential proclamation. In 2022, Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed legislation establishing Sept. 28 as Missouri Good Neighbor Day and the six subsequent days as Missouri Good Neighbor Week. During Good Neighbor Week, citizens can get involved through various events and activities to foster community and goodwill. The City of Lee’s Summit invites residents to a District 1 Town Hall with Councilmembers Mia Prier and Hillary Shields on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Raintree Lake Clubhouse, 825 SW Raintree Drive.

The City of Lee’s Summit has officially rebranded the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport to Kansas City – Lee’s Summit Regional Airport, a change that reflects its role as a key regional gateway for business and leisure travel. The new brand and refreshed look enhance the airport's identity within the Kansas City metropolitan area, underscoring its significance as an economic driver connecting the area to regional and national markets.

The City of Lee’s Summit is proudly hosting one of two KC2026 FIFA World Cup 26™ Countdown Clocks in the center of Green Street, the City’s new outdoor destination located in the heart of downtown Lee’s Summit. The custom-designed, illuminated clock features Kansas City’s unique Host City branding and joins an identical clock in Overland Park, Kansas, counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until midnight, June 11, 2026, the day the FIFA World Cup 26™ kicks off in Mexico City. The clock will be on display at Green Street through mid-November.

Lee’s Summit Mayor Bill Baird will deliver his State of the City address on Aug. 15 at 4:30 p.m., hosted by the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce at the newly completed Green Street Market, 209 SE Green St. The address will take place immediately before the Green Street ribbon cutting, making it the first official public event at the City’s newest destination. This will also mark Mayor Baird’s last State of the City as he completes his final term in office.
