GLMV Architecture Selected as Master Architect for Lee’s Summit Downtown Market Plaza

The City of Lee’s Summit and LANE4 Property Group, the master developer for the Downtown Market Plaza, announce the selection of GLMV Architecture (GLMV) as the master architect for the redevelopment project located near Southeast Green Street and Southeast Third Street. As master architect, GLMV will be responsible for a preliminary design that supports the vision of the community and expands the character of the City’s award-winning downtown.

GLMV will perform a physical site analysis, which will include existing infrastructure, utilities, site structures and topography. Preliminary design efforts will begin immediately on the mixed-use project, followed by a public input process on the various concepts. The preliminary master plan will consist of public and private components. Conceptual public components include a permanent farmers market, flexible indoor space, outdoor performance and festival area, art and water features, and pedestrian areas. Conceptual private components could include a boutique hotel, multi-family residential complex, retail and restaurant.

GLMV's team has extensive experience with similar projects including the Independence Uptown Market, Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus Master Plan, and the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden and Event Center.

City Council approved an amended development structure agreement during its meeting on Jan. 4, naming GLMV as the master architect of the project. GLMV was selected by a committee comprised of members from the City, LANE4 and the Downtown Lee’s Summit Community Improvement District, after an extensive interview process.

“The selection of GLMV allows our team, as master developer, to further explore and evaluate the physical capabilities of the site. This will help us move forward with the various uses we are trying to accommodate in a cohesive way,” said Brandon Buckley, vice president of LANE4. “GLMV will bring a fresh and creative point of view to the project, along with their breadth of experience designing innovative multi-faceted projects.”
