Parking Lot Closure for Arnold Hall Stormwater Project Set for Monday, March 21

The public parking lot at 121 SE 3rd St. in downtown Lee’s Summit, commonly referred to as the Arnold Hall parking lot, is set to close on Monday, March 21, weather permitting, and is expected to remain closed until June. The closure is necessary for the second phase of stormwater work at the site which includes the excavation and installation of stormwater tanks. The alley off of SE Green St. will be used during construction and will be closed most of the time. The alley off of 3rd Street will have intermittent closures; access will be maintained to the Vogue parking garage.

Visitors to the area are encouraged to use free public parking available in the parking garage at 2nd and Green streets.

The City’s crews treated all streets with salt overnight into today, Friday, Jan. 12. With light snow expected today, crews will continue to monitor and treat streets as needed. The City’s crews are pre-treating streets with salt tonight, Thursday, Jan. 11, in advance of another round of winter weather. Temperatures may fall below freezing earlier than previously expected, and will stay there. Crews may need to treat primary streets again as temperatures drop and streets get slick. Drivers should use caution especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

The City’s crews began plowing and treating residential streets overnight and will continue throughout the day today, Wed., Jan. 10, and overnight into tomorrow, Thurs., Jan. 11. Some streets will continue to be packed with snow even after plowing and treating. Pavement temperatures and sunshine should help with additional melting throughout the day today; however, overnight and into Thursday refreezing may occur and drivers should continue to use caution.
