• The City has adopted the 2024 I-Codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code. The codes will become effective October 1, 2026.   

• Projects submitted prior to October 1 will be reviewed and permitted under currently enforced 2018 I-Codes and the 2017 National Electrical Code. 

• Projects submitted on or after October 1 will be reviewed and permitted under the 2024 I-Codes and 2023 National Electrical Code. 

The City of Lee’s Summit will accept applications from qualified agencies for 2026–27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from Jan. 6 – Feb. 6, 2026. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awards federal grant funds to the City annually. These funds must be used to meet the needs of low- to moderate-income individuals and families, address slum or blight in Lee's Summit, or meet an urgent need. Lee’s Summit is designated as an Entitlement Community under the CDBG program, giving the City authority to administer the grant funds locally. The City received $385,005 for the 2025–26 grant year. Funding for the 2026–27 program year, which runs July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027, has not yet been announced.
