Lee’s Summit Citizens Leadership Academy Accepting Applications for 2025

The City of Lee’s Summit is accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens Leadership Academy through Dec. 13. The seven-week program offers residents and business owners a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of municipal government and engage with elected officials and City employees.

Participants will gain a firsthand look at what it takes to build and maintain one of the fastest growing communities in the Midwest through presentations and tours hosted by department directors and elected officials. The curriculum will explore Lee's Summit's rich history and provide an in-depth look at public safety, financial management and budgeting, public works, water services, park management and the development life cycle.

The academy is limited to 20 participants and will include seven sessions that begin January 11, 2025 and conclude April 12, 2025. Sessions are held on two Saturdays a month from 8 a.m. to noon at various city facilities. The academy concludes with a graduation held during a City Council meeting.

The program is free and open to Lee’s Summit residents and business owners. Applications can be submitted online at cityofls.net/cla. The application deadline is Dec. 13.
