Fire Damages Greenwood Home

Fire Damages Greenwood Home

The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning in the 400 block of 10th Avenue Circle North in Greenwood, Missouri. A neighbor reported the blaze around 1:15 a.m., indicating that the house was heavily involved in flames.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story, split-level home. Fortunately, the occupants had been alerted by smoke alarms and were safely outside when emergency crews arrived.

Initially, firefighters employed a defensive strategy to combat the fire in the garage and the front of the residence. They later transitioned to an interior attack to complete the extinguishment. The fire was brought under control by 2:07 a.m.

The house sustained extensive fire and smoke damage, with the heaviest damage to the garage and bedrooms above it. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
