Lee’s Summit Hosts Community Blood Drive at Green Street

Lee’s Summit Hosts Community Blood Drive at Green Street

The City of Lee’s Summit is partnering with the Community Blood Center to host a community blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 1–5 p.m. at Green Street Market, 209 SE Green St. All registered donors will receive a free Kansas City Chiefs T-shirt while supplies last.

Whole blood is the most common type of donation and can be given every 56 days. Double red cell donations collect two units of red blood cells in one visit and can be given every four months. Both types are critical for treating accident victims, surgery patients and people battling cancer or chronic illnesses. One donation can help save multiple lives in the community.

Donors can register at savealifenow.org/group using the group code KCJN. Specific requirements apply to blood donors. They must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good overall health. Sixteen year olds can donate with written consent from a parent or legal guardian. Donors should drink fluids and eat a good meal before donating blood.

Appointments are strongly recommended. Walk-ins will only be accepted as capacity allows.
