Surface Seal Set to Begin this Friday, June 6

Surface seal operations in Lee’s Summit are expected to begin on Friday, June 6, and will last for approximately one month, weather permitting. New this year, the City of Lee’s Summit’s contractor Vance Brothers will provide the latest schedule and surface seal information on their website: https://www.vancebrothers.com/project-schedules/. If a street is not completed as scheduled due to weather, mechanical delays, or other issues, it will be completed the following day, weather permitting.

Surface sealing involves placing a thin asphalt layer across the street, which is designed to extend the life of the pavement. Following installation, vehicles are prohibited from driving on the seal coat until the street is reopened two to three hours later. Residents impacted by surface seal receive a postcard notification in the mail, followed by a door hanger two days prior to the surface seal operation. Surface seal area maps are available on the City’s website or the CIP Dashboard under Surface Seal FY26.

For more information, contact the City’s Public Works Department at publicworks@cityofls.net or 816-969-1800.
