Sections of Southeast Douglas and Southeast Ninth Streets Closed

Sections of Southeast Douglas and Southeast Ninth Streets Closed

A section of Southeast Douglas Street between Southeast Ninth Street and Southeast Blue Parkway closed on Monday, October 6, and will remain closed until Oct. 31 (extended from Oct. 17).  A section of Southeast Ninth Street is also closed, and there is no access to Southeast Ninth Street from Southeast Douglas Street. The closures are necessary for the installation of new water lines as part of the Route 291 north and U.S. 50 Interchange project.

Southeast Douglas Street is closed to thru traffic between Southeast Seventh Street and Southeast Blue Parkway, with a full closure between just north of Southeast Ninth Street and Southeast Blue Parkway. Southeast Ninth Street is closed to thru traffic between Southeast Miller and Southeast Douglas streets, with a full closure just west of its intersection with Southeast Douglas Street. The detour route for Southeast Douglas Street includes Southeast Browning and Southeast Seventh streets.

 

Update 10/10/25: Southeast Ninth Street is now closed for additional water line work, and work has been extended until Oct. 31. Southeast Douglas Street remains closed north of Southeast Blue Parkway, and there is no access to Southeast Ninth Street from Southeast Douglas Street.

Update 10/7/25: The contractor closed the section of Southeast Douglas Street between Southeast Ninth Street and Southeast Blue Parkway. Access to Southeast Ninth Street from Southeast Douglas Street is maintained.

Update 10/3/25: This work will now start on Monday, October 6 (revised from Wednesday, October 1).

Update 9/23/25: The contractor does not intend to start these closures until Wednesday, October 1 (instead of Sept. 24). However, some work in the area may start before then and is now permitted from September 24, through October 10.
