Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)

What is the UDO?

The Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is an Ordinance regulating and controlling the development of land and matters relating thereto within the City to promote the public safety, health, and general welfare of the community.  Includes zoning and subdivision platting regulations.  Commonly referred to as the UDO.

The UDO was adopted in 2001 and went into effect on November 1, 2001.  It has been amended numerous times since then, in an effort to keep up with local and national trends, as well as to make corrections and make the regulations more clear.  The articles (or chapters) that make up the UDO are shown below, along with the date of the latest amendment to each article. Since the UDO is a very lengthy document, each article is a separate document, so you can view or print only the ones needed.   If you have any questions, please contact the Planning and Development Department at 816-969-1600.
