Public Invited to Review Stormwater Improvements on Nov. 11

The City of Lee's Summit is hosting a public meeting to discuss stormwater infrastructure improvements from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. The following project locations scheduled for improvements will be discussed: the Arlington Circle project, from 314 Arlington Circle to 513 Ash Street in the Arlington Park Subdivision; the Pierce Place project, including portions of NE Country Lane, NE Pierce Place, NE Hendrix Drive, NE Weddle Lane, and NE Scruggs Road in the Emerald View Subdivision; and the Country Lane project, at 208, 213, and 215 NE Country Lane in the Oak Tree Farm Subdivision.  The meeting will allow the public to view plans and provide feedback.  The project is designed to alleviate structural flooding.

Construction is expected to start late summer of 2022.  This project is funded with the passage of the 2017 Capital Improvement sales tax, which funds road, transportation-related and stormwater projects.

A section of Southwest Third Street between Southwest Highland Street and Southwest Lakeview Boulevard is closed for emergency utility repairs. The work is permitted through Friday, March 21. This closure is in the section of Southwest Third Street already closed to thru traffic for the Southwest Third and Southwest Jefferson streets intersection closure. Drivers should follow the posted detour at Southwest Blue Parkway.

A section of Northeast Maybrook Road between Northeast Anderson Drive and Northeast Saint Andrews Circle is set to close to thru traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, for bridge repairs. The wooden bridge on Northeast Maybrook Road will be closed during repairs and traffic is encouraged to use Northeast Anderson Drive as a detour route. The repairs are expected to last one day, weather permitting.
