City Crews Preparing for Snow Wed., Jan. 5, and Overnight Into Thurs., Jan. 6
The City’s Crews are preparing for another round of snow set to begin late Wed., Jan. 5, and continuing overnight into Thurs., Jan. 6. Crews began pretreating residential streets this morning and will work until 3:30 p.m. Another crew is then scheduled to begin working at 7 p.m. to pretreat primary and secondary streets, and will continue treating them during snowfall.
Temperatures will be extremely cold and streets are expected to be slick as soon as precipitation begins. Residents should use caution while driving overnight or during the Thursday morning commute, especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.
Depending on the track of the storm, the Lee’s Summit area may get a dusting to three inches of snow. Crews are scheduled to continue working into the weekend as necessary. The City will continue to monitor the weather forecast and update its response accordingly.
Residents can help the snow control process by removing obstacles such as vehicles, basketball hoops and trash cans from streets.
